The Tall Mouse's adorable baby rag throw quilt & matching burp cloths
About a month ago, I made an adorable soft cuddly flannel baby rag quilt and a set of matching burp cloths as a shower gift for a very good friend who is having a little boy next month.
I had spotted the quilt on display at the Tall Mouse, accompanied by their free pattern (see below), and instantly fell in love. The lack of binding, batting, and actual quilting made me think that this quilt would be easy enough even for a novice sewer like me...and I was right. I was able to figure out the pattern on my own and complete the entire project in a single weekend. Yet the playful colors, fun frilly rag borders, and scrumptious cuddly feel were a big hit with everyone who touched it.
Inspired by my surprised success at making the quilt on my own, I decided to compliment the quilt with a matching set of baby burb cloths -- also a free Tall Mouse pattern. But I opted to use flannel on both sides of the cloths instead of cotton.
Note: Attached is the Tall Mouse pattern for the baby quilt (.pdf). I've scanned it since they do not include it on their website. However, since it is a free pattern that the Tall Mouse makes available inside their store, and since the usually post all these patterns on the site, I assumed this one was an oversight and took the liberty to share it. If the Tall Mouse objects, I will remove the pattern.

I took a peek at your homespuns - gorgeous! I love the coziness and warm colors and may need to go searching for some more to maybe make a second one of these quilts with some of my leftovers. I'm thinking that this quilt is going to have stay in my house . . . I really like it so far - need another one for a gift though.
ReplyDeleteHolly has a lovely blanket - as every good dog should! My little kittie sidekicks all have flannel blankies in every little spot they sleep in . . . I think they appreciate it. Probably not when it's 100+ degrees though!
Enjoy the last few days of August . . . thanks for stopping by.
(P.S. - You're set to "noreply" and I couldn't answer your email)

Thanks for the tip, Marlene. I wasn't aware of the "noreply" setting on Google Connect and have fixed it. I just recently went back to Google Connect -- for this blog -- since I see so many craft bloggers on it.
ReplyDeleteCould you tell me the names of the fabrics you used for the Tall Mouse baby rag quilt? I would love to make it! You did a great job!
